Al. Souchon et A. Diamantopoulos, A CONCEPTUAL-FRAMEWORK OF EXPORT MARKETING INFORMATION USE - KEY ISSUES AND RESEARCH PROPOSITIONS, Journal of international marketing, 4(3), 1996, pp. 49-71
Information use within an export setting has been neglected in most st
udies they focus instead on the acquisition of information rather than
its use. Knowledge use as a topic, however, has been under investigat
ion in the social sciences since the mid-1970s. Various conceptualizat
ions have been developed, and emphasis has been placed upon the multid
imensional nature of knowledge use. This article reviews the literatur
es on export information and general knowledge use, and integrates the
m into a model of export information use. Specifically, different type
s of information use are distinguished, their antecedents are identifi
ed, and their effect on export decision making and ultimate export suc
cess is indicated. A number of propositions to guide further research
are also developed.
