A generalized method is developed for the calculation of the attractiv
e energy parameter in cubic equations of state (EOS). The procedure em
ploys the principle of corresponding states and requires as input data
the acentric factor, critical temperature and pressure. A comparison
made with previous methods shows significant improvement in the predic
tion of the attractive energy parameter for normal fluids.
