For the first time a spectrally resolved investigation on the reciproc
ity failure behaviour of photographic emulsions has been carried out.
Cubic and octahedral AgBr microcrystals of 1 mu m mean diameter, spect
rally sensitized with homologeous benzthiocyanine dyes, have been inve
stigated. Additionally, the influence of the stabilizer tetraazaindene
on the reciprocity failure characteristics of the same emulsions was
studied. The experimental data were interpreted with the HICD-LICD (Hi
gh and Low Interstitial Concentration Desensitization) model.
