We consider the asymmetry in the decay Omega(-) --> Xi(-)gamma assumin
g that a vector meson dominance approach for the s --> d transition gi
ves the dominant contribution. Since in this long-distance approximati
on the decay is due to a single quark transition s --> d gamma, the an
gular distribution asymmetry is given by the single positive asymmetry
parameter alpha(h) = M(s)(2) - M(d)(2)/M(s)(2) + M(d)(2) = 0.4 +/- 0.
1. We also discuss the asymmetry in Xi --> Sigma(-)gamma, which is exp
ected to be between -0.2 and 0.3.
