Abstract
X-ray structural analyses of tetrakis(trialkylsilyl)digermenes have sh own that the trialkylsilyl substituents enforce near-planar geometry a round the Ge=Ge bonds, in accordance with theoretical predictions. A r emarkable temperature dependence of the W-vis spectra of tetrakis(trii sopropylsilyl)digermene in solution was observed, suggesting an equili brium between two different structures around the Ge=Ge bond.
