The reaction of (CO)(9)Co-3(mu(3)-CCOOH) with Ti(OR)(4) results in the
formation of Ti(IV) oxo alkoxy carboxylates exhibiting new structural
forms: R=Et, 3)-O)(4)(mu-OEt)(8){mu-(CO)(9)Co-3(mu(3)-CCO2)}(4) (1);
R=Pr-i, u(3)-O)(4)(OPri)(4){mu-(CO)(9)Co-3(mu(3)-CCO2)}(4) (3); R=Ph,
Ti-4(mu(3)-O)(4){mu-(CO)(9)Co-3(mu(3)-CCO2)}(4) (5); reaction with Ti(
OPri)(2)(1,2-O2C6H4) yields OPri)(2)(O2C6H4)(4){mu-(CO)(9)Co-3(mu(3)-C
CO2)}(4) (4). Observed stoichiometries and structures reflect the effe
cts of a metal cluster relative to organic substituents.
