Abstract
Heating Mes2InBr (Mes* = 2,4,6-(t)Bu(3)(C6H2)) at 130-150 degrees C u nder reduced pressure afforded the new isomer Mes(Br)In[CH2C(CH3)(2)C 6H3((t)Bu)(2)] (1) in 55% yield. The solid-state structure of 1 was de termined by single-crystal X-ray crystallography. The resultant geomet ry around the indium center can be viewed as pseudo trigonal bipyramid al due to two close contacts of o-(t)Bu hydrogens on the Mes groups, Reaction of IN-(SePh)(2)I with MesMgBr resulted in the quantitative f ormation of MesIn(SePh)(2) (2). An X-ray structural analysis of 2 rev ealed a monomeric molecule.
