Aerosol droplets in monodisperse sprays produced by spinning disc gene
rators are shown to correlate with a simple law when the controlling p
arameters are represented in an appropriate dimensionless form. This c
orrelation holds for liquid of widely differing physical properties, v
iz. with surface tensions varying between 31.5 and 465 dyne/cm. The re
sults implies that the Bond number based on the droplet size (i.e., th
e ratio of the body force to the surface tension) has a constant value
of approximately 1.63. (C) 1997 American Association for Aerosol Rese
