Ag. Novikov et al., THE VIBRATION-ROTATION MOTIONS OF WATER-MOLECULES IN A 2M AQUEOUS CSCL SOLUTION, Chemical physics letters, 259(3-4), 1996, pp. 391-396
An analysis of the generalized frequency distribution of hydration wat
er molecules in a 2M aqueous CsCl solution, extracted from results of
an inelastic neutron scattering experiment, is presented. The signific
ant area reduction of the low-frequency part and some shift of the lib
ration mode to lower frequencies in comparison with pure water are fou
nd, suggesting that Cs+ ion acts as a ''structure breaker'' disrupting
the hydrogen bond network of water molecules comprising its hydration
shell.
