We report a limiting mechanism which determines a spectral tuning rang
e of a pulsed Ti:sapphire laser by injection-tuning. An analytical mod
el has been developed to estimate an attainable tuning range based on
the theory of Q-switched operation. It was found that a maximum achiev
able tuning range was limited between 740 and 840 nm without using any
intracavity tuning elements in the Ti:sapphire laser by injection-tun
ing. These results were compared with experimental results.
