As one part of the investigations of fire tests with road and rail veh
icles in a tunnel, work clothes were examined for PCDD/F contamination
. The work clothes were used by scientific personal for sampling purpo
ses. The tasks carried out for two to five days each can be compared w
ith decontamination and waste disposal measures after fire accidents w
ith respect to pollution of the clothes. Seven samples of cotton overa
lls and one working glove were analyzed for their PCDD/F content. The
results ranged between 1.40 and 367 ng I-TEQ/m(2) or 5.28 and 1,220 ng
I-TEQ/kg.
