Functional response of the reduviid predator Rhynocoris marginatus Fab
ricius to blister beetle Mylabris pustulata Thunberg was studied in be
ndhi agroecosystem by field cage experiments. R marginatus positively
responded to the changing abundance of prey by killing more prey and e
xhibited Holling's second model of functional response. The relationsh
ip between predator age and prey killed was linear at all prey densiti
es. The searching capacity of R marginatus increased with the increasi
ng prey density and this reflected the predator's biocontrol potential
.
