F. Dupoiron et Jp. Audouard, DUPLEX STAINLESS-STEELS - A HIGH MECHANICAL-PROPERTIES STAINLESS-STEELS FAMILY, Scandinavian journal of metallurgy, 25(3), 1996, pp. 95-102
Background/aims: Duplex stainless steels constitute a high strength st
ainless steel family with high corrosion resistance properties. The us
e of them has dramatically grown in the last 10 years, particularly in
the fields of off-shore, chemical tankers and chemical industries; ho
wever, the high strength also makes them suitable for many other appli
cations. Results and conclusions: After a short presentation of the te
chnical history, the main mechanical properties including those of wel
ded joints are presented and discussed related to the microstructural
aspects. Comparison with other materials, new potential applications a
nd future research axes are also discussed.
