M. Lehnert et J. Felderhoff, MANAGEMENT OF RECONSTRUCTION OF COMBINED HAND INJURIES INCLUSIVE REPLANTATIONS, Die medizinische Welt, 47(8), 1996, pp. 324-329
The anatomical details of the hand act together and therefore it is th
e most complicated part of our skeleton and locomotor system. Simultan
eously the hand is a tactile sensory organ and an instrument for inter
human communication. Sometimes the treatment of isolated injuries is d
ifficult enough. Adequate treatment of combined injuries requires a so
phisticated level of hand surgical training with advanced knowledge an
d technical skills. Primary reconstruction of the damaged structures w
ill be the aim, to start physiotherapy as soon as possible. If it will
be impossible to reconstruct everything primarily, it is necessary to
create best conditions for later surgical treatment. In case of repla
ntation surgery the patient should be transferred, in dependence of hi
s simultaneous injuries, to a special replantation center.
