Abstract
Navy medicine is challenged to provide ongoing and realistic training for medical personnel who will be deployed to provide battlefield care . Current events in this country suggest that the need for realistic t raining could be met while simultaneously providing support to civilia n communities with great need, Deployable Medical Systems hospital mod ules could be set up in areas where the medical care system is overwhe lmed and provide real patient management on the deployment platform. T his innovative approach to providing ''mutual support'' to our own cit izens will also enhance the cooperation between the civilian and milit ary sectors should a civil disaster occur.
