Abstract
Single crystals of double molybdates and tungstates of tile formula KL a1-xPrx(MO(4))(2) (M = Mo, W) with a concentration of Pr3+ ions rangin g from x = 0.1 to x = 0.005 have been prepared. Their electronic absor ption and emission spectra have been measured and discussed as well as related to their crystal structures. Both tile multiphonon relaxation and cross relaxation contribute to the decay of the P-3(0) level of P r3+ in these two matrices.
