Abstract
The structural characteristics of Erving Goffman's ''method'' are expl ained and discussed in this article. This takes place against the back ground of interpretative sociology and is, above all, compared to ethn omethodological conversation analysis and structural hermeneutics. Met hodological and research conformities as well as convergence and diver gence of the approaches discussed are the focal points of interest.
