Z. Srebro et al., GOMORI-POSITIVE AND SULFUR-RICH GRANULES IN HEPATOCYTES OF VARIOUS SPECIES OF FROGS, Acta Biologica Cracoviensia. Series Zoologia, 38, 1996, pp. 1
Several species of frogs show abundant cytoplasmic granules in hepatoc
ytes (parenchymal cells). The granules stain positively with Gomori's
chrome haematoxylin-phloxin and a rich in organic sulphur as evidenced
by the performic acid Alcian blue at low pH method. The granules are
akin to similar cytoplasmic granules occurring in brain astrocytes of
mammals.
