Abstract
Experimental identification of a delay plus first-order transfer funct ion model for a liquid level system is carried out by using the closed -loop method proposed by Yuwana and Seborg (AIChE J., 28 (1982) 434-44 0), Jutan and Rodrigues (Can. J. Chem. Eng., 62 (1984) 802-807), Lee ( AIChE J., 35 (1989) 329-331) and Chen (AIChE J., 35 (1989) 2037-2039). Based on the identified model, conventional proportional-integral (PI ) controllers are designed and implemented experimentally to compare t he closed-loop responses.
