Abstract
Mono-ADP-ribosylation was originally discovered as the mechanism by wh ich diphtheria toxin inactivates protein synthesis. It is now apparent that higher organisms use analogous mechanisms to regulate endogenous metabolism. Here, the relationship between bacterial toxins and verte brate mono-ADP ribosyltransferases is explored.
