Abstract
Calix[4]arene units functionalized at the 1,3-positions of the upper r im with an organopalladium binding site demonstrate simultaneous first - and second-sphere coordination of a substrate through binding to the palladium centre and interaction within the hydrophobic site provided by the calixarene unit.
