Abstract
Two water-soluble polymers carrying 0.28 and 0.16 mmol glucose/g were prepared following the co-polymerization of 2-nitro-4-(carboxyhydrazid o-N'-acryloyl)benzyl 2,3,4,6-tetra-O-acetyl-beta-D-glucopyranoside and arcylamide. The polymers served as efficient accepters (up to 86% tra nsfer yield) in the galactosyltransferase reaction and the product sac charide, lactose, was released from the polymers following photolysis (84% yield).
