Ai. Bugrova et Ai. Morozov, EFFECT OF VACUUM CONDITIONS ON THE OPERATION OF A STEADY-STATE PLASMAENGINE, Plasma physics reports, 22(8), 1996, pp. 632-637
The features of a steady-state plasma engine (SPE) operating in a vacu
um chamber are considered. A review is given of papers that elucidate
the effect of the gas pressure in the vacuum chamber on the discharge
current, jet thrust, and efficiency of the engine. The effect on the S
PE operation of the negative ions created by the target bombardment is
discussed.
