Abstract
Parathyroid carcinoma is a rare cause for primary hyperparathyroidism. A 65-yr-old man presented with postoperative, recurrent hyperparathyr oidism after resection of parathyroid carcinoma. Misleading findings w ere demonstrated by both double-phase Tc-99m-sestamibi scintigraphy an d MRI. The location and extent of the parathyroid carcinoma were corre ctly detected by PET using F-18-fluorodeoxyglucose. FDG-PET provided a ccurate information before reoperation and proved to be valuable for p reoperative surgical planning.
