Ja. Penny et al., QVALIDATION OF THE WELCH-ALLYN QUIETTRAK AMBULATORY BLOOD-PRESSURE MONITOR IN PREGNANCY, Hypertension in pregnancy, 15(3), 1996, pp. 313-321
Objective: To assess the accuracy of the Welch Allyn QuietTrak ambulat
ory blood pressure monitor in pregnancy. Method: The QuietTrak ambulat
ory blood pressure monitor was validated for accuracy using the protoc
ol of the British Hypertension Society (BHS). Results: The machine ach
ieved a grade B for systolic and diastolic blood pressure according to
the BHS grading criteria. The mean difference (standard deviation) be
tween observer and machine for systolic was 0.34 mm Hg (9 mm Hg) and f
or diastolic was -1.6 mm Hg (8 mm Hg). Conclusions: The Welch Allyn Qu
ietTrak ambulatory blood pressure monitor is accurate for use in pregn
ancy according to BHS and narrowly failed the criteria of the Associat
ion for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) criteria.
