Reference materials related to the monitoring of aldehydes in air by d
erivatization with 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine (DNPH) and subsequent de
termination of the hydrazone by HPLC were prepared and certified, The
materials are the solid hydrazones of formaldehyde (CRM 546), acetalde
hyde (CRM 547), acrolein (CRM 548); acetone (CRM 549); and glutaraldeh
yde (CRM 550); a mixture of the hydrazones of formaldehyde, acetaldehy
de, acrolein and acetone in acetonitrile with excess DNPH (CRM 551); a
blank solution of DNPH in acetonitrile (CRM 552); formaldehyde hydraz
one on a glass-fibre filter impregnated with DNPH (CRM 553); and a bla
nk filter impregnated with DNPH (CRM 554). The materials were found to
be homogeneous and stable, These Community Bureau of Reference (BCR)
Certified Reference Materials (CRMs) are recommended for quality contr
ol and for calibration purposes.
