Sk. Rai et al., MURINE INFECTION WITH LYMPHOCYTIC CHORIOMENINGITIS VIRUS FOLLOWING GASTRIC INOCULATION, Journal of virology, 70(10), 1996, pp. 7213-7218
Laboratory studies of arenaviruses have been limited to parenteral rou
tes of infection; however, recent epidemiological studies implicate vi
rus ingestion as a natural route of infection. Accordingly, we develop
ed a model for oral and gastric infection with lymphocytic choriomenin
gitis virus to enable studies of mucosal transmission and vaccination
by this additional route.
