J. Cooper et al., COMPARISON OF COMPUTATIONAL ELECTROMAGNETIC CODES APPLIED TO A SPHERECANONICAL PROBLEM, IEE proceedings. Microwaves, antennas and propagation, 143(4), 1996, pp. 309-316
Simulations are made of lossy dielectric homogeneous and inhomogeneous
spheres illuminated by plane-wave or by 0.4 lambda-dipole radiation a
t 900 MHz. The electric and magnetic field components and specific abs
orption rate values for each case are determined using several computa
tional electromagnetic codes and the different results compared and il
lustrated. Local differences in specific absorption rate values betwee
n the methods exist, but values averaged over 1 or 10g are within 10%
of each other. A knowledge of the spread in results from different met
hods is needed for biomedical applications of the numerical codes to m
ore complex problems in mobile communication.
