Abstract
This paper presents a truss model for a simple structure (a deep beam) whose strength is governed by the development of a bar in a compressi on-compression-tension nodal zone (C-C-T node), as well as the failure mechanism compatible with the truss model. The modeling clarifies the bond transfer and its dependence on the effects of such factors as th e geometry, reinforcement details, and material strengths of considere d structures and its state of stress, which is influenced by supports and loading conditions. The modeling concepts presented also form the basis for consistent truss modeling of bar development in other nodal zones (T-T-C and T-T-T nodes).
