Abstract
The crystal structure of the title compound (C7H8N2O2) has been determ ined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction at room temperature. The mole cule is not planar, with dihedral angles of 18.0(36)degrees between th e amino group and the aromatic ring, and 3.3(2)degrees between the nit ro group and the ring. The molecular geometry is stabilized by an intr amolecular hydrogen bond. The crystal packing involves two intermolecu lar hydrogen bonds that induce the formation of infinite polar chains.
