Abstract
Material and production control (MPC) techniques are essential tools t o be used in industry in order to achieve high quality products and lo w production cost. For a country like Saudi Arabia that is venturing i nto the industrial era, achievement of success and standing to competi tion require the implementation of up-to-date MPC tools. The purpose o f this paper is to examine how far MPC techniques are implemented in t he industries of the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. MPC include aut omation, computer integrated manufacturing systems (CIM), just-in-time (JIT), material requirements planning (MRP), and total quality manage ment (TQM).
