Abstract
According to thermodynamic results a methyl or ethyl group attached to the beta carbon of a vinyl sulfone causes a stabilization of ca. 13 k J mol(-1). The corresponding stabilization caused by an a alkyl group is ca. 10 kJ mol(-1).
