A. Naess et V. Moe, STATIONARY AND NONSTATIONARY RANDOM VIBRATION OF OSCILLATORS WITH BILINEAR HYSTERESIS, International journal of non-linear mechanics, 31(5), 1996, pp. 553-562
The path integral solution (PIS) technique has been applied to calcula
te the response statistics of a white noise excited oscillator with bi
linear hysteresis. It is shown that the PIS method provides an interes
ting alternative for investigating the random vibration of hysteretic
oscillators. Computational aspects of the application of the PIS techn
ique for estimating the statistics of the response of such oscillators
are discussed, and the obtained numerical results are compared with t
he results produced by stochastic averaging and Monte Carlo simulation
