The influence of the preparation procedure of low-percentage Pt-Fe/Al2
O3 catalysts ([Pt] = 0.15 at. %, gamma = Fe/Pt = 1-300) on their effic
iency in the activation of C-H and C-C bonds in propane is studied. Th
e maximum efficiency was shown to be attained using two approaches: (1
) the choice of the optimal Fe/Pt atomic ratios or (2) the preliminary
oxidative thermal treatment of the modified support. When iron is use
d as a modifying additive, the catalysts can be prepared that provide
a high selectivity of the structure-insensitive reaction of propane de
hydrogenation (up to 97-98%), which exceeds the selectivity of the unm
odified platinum-containing catalysts in the same reaction. The method
of preparation, the pretreatment conditions of Fe(NO3)(3)/Al2O3, and
the gamma values were also found to influence the stability of the cat
alysts studied.
