Km. Abdulkadyrov et al., MORPHOLOGICAL STRUCTURAL CHARACTERISTICS OF HEMATOPOIETIC MICROENVIRONMENT IN PATIENTS WITH MULTIPLE-MYELOMA, Gematologia i transfuziologia, 41(1), 1996, pp. 13-16
The authors' investigations found plasmocytic infiltration of bone mar
row and marked resorption of bone tissue in patients with multiple mye
loma (MM). Instead of the expected reduction in bone marrow volume the
latter slightly increased. MM patients have significantly higher quan
tity of endosteal stromal cells, accumulations of osteoblastic cellula
r elements considered as initial osteogenesis. A close correlation was
revealed between bone tissue volume, number of erythroid elements in
bone marrow and red cell count in peripheral blood. Volume of fatty ti
ssues in MM patients is low. MM patients demonstrate pronounced morpho
functional disturbances in hemopoietic microenvironment of bone marrow
.
