ERROR ESTIMATION AND MESH ADAPTIVITY FOR ELASTOPLASTIC DEFORMATIONS

Many interesting applications in industry lead to complex boundary val ue problems within the mathematical theory of elasto-plasticity. Adapt ive strategies must be introduced into the overall computational schem e in order to achieve the desired accuracy of the computed results mos t effectively. Some recently published results of local error indicato rs for Hencky and Prandtl-Reu ss plasticity are described and applied to a numerical example. Additionally, the yield condition as well as t he flow rule are controlled.
