M. Durand et al., FRENCH VERSION OF THE ROBERT-BALAGUE PERC EPTION OF SUCCESS QUESTIONNAIRE, International journal of sport psychology, 27(3), 1996, pp. 251-268
This paper presents a french version of Roberts and Balague's Percepti
on of Success Questionnaire (1991). Labelled ''Questionnaire de Percep
tion du Succes en Sport'' (QPSS), this instrument consists of two subs
cales of six items assessing mastery and competitive (task and ego) go
al orientations. The procedure of translation and validation is the on
e Vallerand advocates (1989). Five studies have been conducted with 13
14 adults and teenagers, in order to translate the items and assess (a
) their comprehensibility (study 1), (b) concurrent solidity (study 2
and 3), (c) reliability (internal consistency and test-retest reliabil
ity) and (d) construct validity (factorial structure) (study 4). We al
so aimed at examinies the effects or correlates of psychologic constru
ct (study 4 and 5). The QPSS has been found to possess strong psychome
tric properties enabling to measure achievement goal orientations amon
g French teenagers and adults sportsmen.
