Abstract
Randomization has become a standard procedure for clinical trial desig n, and is also widely used in other areas of biological research. This article will examine the reasons why randomization has become a sine qua non in some areas, yet remains far less widely adopted in experime ntal studies of molecular medicine. Should randomization be used routi nely in the design of most laboratory experiments?
