PROGRESS IN THE DEVELOPMENT AND PATENTING OF ANTISENSE DRUG DISCOVERYTECHNOLOGY

There has been prolific patenting activity surrounding antisense techn ology to date. With more than fifty issued patents and innumerable app lications published, a relatively clear picture about current and futu re patent positions can be defined. In this article the basics of anti sense patenting, various strategies and the current patent positions o f the major antisense programs are reviewed.
