Abstract
In this paper the effect of ultraviolet (UV) light irradiation on the optical, photoelectrical and electret properties of CdBr2:Cu+ single c rystals has been investigated. It has been found out that in CdBr2:Cu crystals some copper impurity ions are part of dipoles. The action of UV light which causes colouring of the CdBr2:Cu+ crystals destroys th ese dipoles. The obtained experimental results show that in CdBr2:Cucrystals with low and high copper impurity concentrations photochemica l reactions are caused basically by charge exchange of the copper cent res.
