Thin Kapton-H films were irradiated with swift heavy ions in the MeV a
mu(-1) range. The ion beam-induced insulator-conductor transition was
studied in situ by de and ac measurements. Electron spin resonance (ES
R) measurements on outgassed samples were also performed. The spin dyn
amics is governed by exchange interactions, at low temperatures, and b
y motion of carriers, at high temperatures. Molecular oxygen is found
to alter both the conductivity and the spin relaxation times.
