The thermally stimulated luminescence of oxides, carbonates and high T
-c ceramic superconductors (perovskites of the (BiPb)SrCaCuO type obta
ined by solid state reaction) was measured in the temperature interval
20-500 degrees C. The glow-curves obtained on the perovskites are com
pared with those determined for both the precursor compounds and pure
(BiPb)SrCaCuO powders of the same stoichiometry. The analysis of the d
ata evidences the possibility of characterising the oxides and carbona
tes and of detecting very low intensity TL signals produced in the sup
erconductors by precursor compounds, which can be identified in some c
ases, and/or low amounts of semiconducting or insulating compounds pro
bably formed during the sintering procedure.
