Kc. Smith et al., CANINE LYMPHOMATOID GRANULOMATOSIS - AN IMMUNOPHENOTYPIC ANALYSIS OF 3 CASES, Journal of Comparative Pathology, 115(2), 1996, pp. 129-138
Three dogs had a history of multiple progressive lesions affecting the
skin, subcutis or skeletal muscles. The lesions developed over a peri
od of several months, and each case demonstrated late cardiopulmonary
complications. Post-mortem examination revealed multicentric, angio-de
structive, lymphohistiocytic, proliferative lesions typical of the rar
e disorder lymphomatoid granulomatosis. Immunohistochemical examinatio
n demonstrated variable CD3 antigen expression by the atypical cell po
pulation in two of the three cases. This provides the first evidence t
hat canine lymphomatoid granulomatosis may be a form of atypical T-cel
l lymphoma similar to the comparable disorder that occurs in man. (C)
