Treatment of pea (Pisum sativum L.) seedlings with 5 x 10(-5) M salicy
lic acid induced the synthesis of several polypeptides with mol wts of
11, 29, 38, 42, and 72 kD. The polypeptides with mol wts of 11 and 72
kD could be detected only by means of radioautography, which suggests
that they are short-lived. Salicylic acid did not completely repress
the synthesis of any polypeptide, although it substantially reduced th
e content of the 27 kD polypeptide.
