Mc. Hough et Dc. Wright, 2 NEW TEST METHODS FOR ASSESSING ENVIRONMENTAL-STRESS CRACKING OF AMORPHOUS THERMOPLASTICS, Polymer testing, 15(5), 1996, pp. 407-421
Two new test methods, monotonic creep and micro-hardness, are used to
study the environmental stress crack (ESC) resistance of polymethyl me
thacrylate (PMMA) and unplasticised polyvinyl chloride (UPVC). Monoton
ic creep is shown to discriminate, to a high resolution and in the sho
rt term, the ESC resistance of polymer/fluid pairs, including those po
lymer/fluid pairs which exhibit mild/weak interactions. Micro-hadness
is shown to offer a cost-effective method of mass screening polymer/fl
uid pairs for compatibility. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd
