Abstract
The ethanolic extract of the seeds of Uvaria tonkinensis (Annonaceae), collected on Hainan Island, have led to the isolation of a new polyox ygenated cyclohexane derivative tonkinenin A [1]. The structure of 1 w as deduced from spectroscopic characteristics and the absolute stereoc hemistry assigned by the O-methylmandelate ester method. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd
