TbMn2Si2 (ThCr2Si2-type crystal structure) exhibits at 1.6 K two ferro
magnetic sublattices composed of Tb3+ and Mn2+ magnetic moments direct
ed along the c-axis; their magnitudes at 1.6 K are 8.7(1) and 2.4(1)mu
(B) respectively. The sublattices are oriented antiferromagnetically.
The Tb sublattice becomes disordered at 100 K; the Mn sublattice start
s to transform into an antiferromagnetic structure at 100 K and is sta
ble with 2.4(1)mu(B) moment up to the Neel point at 501 K.
