Jl. Aparicio et Mp. Elizalde, ACTIVITY-COEFFICIENT CALCULATIONS APPLIED TO ZNCL2 IN LICL MEDIA - DISTINCTION BETWEEN THE REAL ACTIVITY-COEFFICIENT AND THE EFFECT OF COMPLEXATION, Journal of solution chemistry, 25(11), 1996, pp. 1055-1069
The values of the formation constants of the zinc-chlorocomplexes in L
iCl media at different ionic strengths have been evaluated from litera
ture data on perchlorate media by using the specific interaction theor
y, SIT. The distinction between the real or stoichiometric activity co
efficient of the electrolyte ZnCl2 and the contribution from the forma
tion of complexes in the experimentally measured mean activity coeffic
ient, resulting from varying the ionic strength, has been made on the
basis of the SIT theory. Values of the formation constant for the comp
lexes at infinite dilution, as well as interaction and salting coeffic
ients, are also given.
