A comparative study of ageing methods for whiting was conducted using
vertebrae, whole otoliths and broken-burnt otoliths. Whole otoliths an
d vertebral readings produced lower precision and underestimation than
broken and burnt otoliths, which are therefore proposed as the most a
ppropriate ageing method for this species.
