Abstract
A new fluorescence property of yeast D-glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehy drogenase was detected after it had been incubated in KI solution. Til e fluorophore formed in Baker's yeast GAPDH fluoresced at 383 nm by ex citation at 336 nm. The formation of tile fluorophore depended on NAD: Modification of Cys-149 with iodoacetic acid influenced some properti es of the fluorescence. It appears that the fluorophore may be situate d at or near the active site.
